Sustainable mobility as well as interesting forms of bicycle transportation support we discuss with Ing. Katarina Badurova, HR director of Stredoslovenska energetika.
I have heard about a breakfast for your employees, who commute on bicycles. How is it, in fact?
On Tuesday 20th of September, during the European campaign for support of the sustainable mobility called European mobility week (EMW), the SSE group announced 20th of September 2016 as a “SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY DAY”. Everybody, who has come to work by any other mode of transport than by a car – on a bicycle, by bus, in-lines or on a scooter, had a possibility to stop by and refresh with a healthy smoothie breakfast in our headquarters building hall.
We have organized a talk in cooperation with Zilina city for our employees about “Bicycle transportation and new bicycle paths in our city”. The talk about this topic had been chaired and employees’ questions answered by Mgr. Lubos Slebodnik from the city of Zilina, transportation department.
The first public bicycle repair stand in Zilina can be used by your employees, they park their bicycles inside a guarded area. Nowadays, companies invest in a much bigger scale into creating a suitable background for their employees to commute comfortably by bicycles. What is your opinion about the value of this support from the employee’s point of view?
Commuting by bicycle is much more common nowadays than it was in the past. It is one of the easiest modes of transport that we can implement into our busy days. Bicycle ride offers lots of advantages unlike the cars.
As the growing trend of bicycle commuting can’t be overlooked in our company, the repair stand can be understood as one of the benefits for our employees. The comfort of using a bicycle for commuting to work has increased by installing the service stand. Quick service, small repairs or inflating the tires, this is the certainty that the employees can enjoy now.
SSE has received a Leading HR Organization award for effective management and the best practices in the human resources area. How do you perceive the importance of the balance between the work and private life so called “work-life balance”?
Satisfied employee is an inconspicuous but effective way of indirect advertisement. Stredoslovenska energetika (SSE) offers its employees various attractive benefits that allow managing the work and private life requirements better. We can name prolonged leave entitlement, flexible work hours, contributions to supplementary pension insurance, contributions to kindergarten services for kids of our employees, various sports and social events for our employees and their family members as well as many other benefits.
Stredoslovenska energetika is being active in promoting and realizing the idea of socially responsible business for a long term already. Witch of your running and planned projects are connected with the support of sustainable mobility?
As we have mentioned in the first question, during the European campaign for support of the sustainable mobility called European mobility week (EMW), the SSE group announced 20th of September 2016 as a “SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY DAY”. Everybody, who has come to work by any other mode of transport than by a car – on a bicycle, by bus, in-lines or on a scooter, had the possibility to stop by and refresh with a healthy smoothie breakfast in our headquarters building hall. The talk about “Bicycle transportation and new bicycle paths in our city” organized together with the city of Zilina belongs to these activities too. The same lecture took place at the Hlinka square in Zilina on Friday the 23rd of September within eMobility day Zilina 2016. The event was organized during the European mobility week in cooperation with Tesla Club Slovakia as a guarantee and SSE, a.s. as a general partner of the event. The aim of the eMobility day was to present to the public actual eMobility trends and widen the awareness about the new transportation and energy solutions. Our people actively took part in discussions and talks about the renewable energy sources and ecological approach to the life style. SSE is very active in the area of renewable energy sources and ecological approach to the environment and at the same time a significant supporter of the eMobility idea.
